    Conditions for joining the specialist course (Tankers)

    Completed basic ADR training

    This is the most important requirement. To enrol in the specialist course (tankers), you must hold a valid basic qualification or be taking both courses at the same time (so-called combined training).

    Minimum age: 21 years

    In accordance with Polish law, qualifications for the transport of dangerous goods in tankers may be obtained by persons who have reached the age of 21.

    Holding a driving licence of the relevant category

    You must hold a valid driving licence of category C (if you drive a vehicle over 3.5t) or C+E (if you drive a combination with a tanker semi-trailer).

    Training programme – What does the tanker course cover?

    Construction and operation of tankers

    You will learn about types of tanks (fixed tanks, demountable tanks, tank containers) and their structural elements: baffles, manholes, safety valves and measuring systems.

    Physics of liquid loads

    You will learn how liquid behaves during driving, braking and cornering. You will understand the influence of the "free surface" of the liquid on vehicle stability.

    Loading and unloading systems

    You will learn the rules for safe filling and emptying of tankers (top and bottom loading methods), operation of pumps and earthing to prevent electrostatic discharges.

    Documentation and marking

    You will practise correct marking of transport units with orange plates with HIN/UN numbers and warning labels for tankers.

    The exam is conducted directly at our training centre, immediately after the course ends. A commission appointed by the Director of the Transport Technical Inspection (TDT) oversees its proper conduct. You will learn the result immediately after submitting the test.

        Frequently asked questions – Tanker Course

        No, the basic course is a prerequisite. However, you can take both trainings one after the other as part of one 5-day cycle and pass both exams on the same day.

        The exam lasts 40 minutes and consists of 18 single-choice questions. To pass, you need to answer at least 12 questions correctly. The test takes place immediately after the basic course exam.

        You are entitled to an unlimited number of retakes within 6 months of the course start date. Retakes take place every 1–2 weeks at our centre during the nearest session of the examination committee. You do not need to pay again or retake the entire course.

        The positive result from the basic course is credited. In this case you will receive an ADR certificate for the transport of goods in packages/in bulk, and you only need to retake the part concerning tankers.

        The ADR certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of passing the state exam and is valid in all countries covered by the ADR agreement.
